Postdoctoral Researcher (2021 - 2022) CNRS Research Director Dr. Marc Mauduit, École nationale supérieure de chimie de Rennes, France

Jan Lorkowski returns to our group as a CNRS postdoctoral scholar to explore a new avenue of carbene chemistry intersecting with chirality and catalysis.

He conducted his initial postdoctoral studies with our collaborator, CNRS Research Director Dr. Marc Mauduit, in Rennes, France, where he developed optically pure cyclic(Alkyl)(Amino) carbene ruthenium complexes for asymmetric olefin metathesis. During his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Cezary Pietraszuk in Poznań, Poland, Jan focused on tailoring carbenes for use as ancillary ligands in palladium and platinum-catalyzed reactions. He also received fellowships from the German and Polish National Agencies of Academic Exchange (DAAD, NAWA) to pursue the isolation of elusive cyclic(Amino)(Aryl) carbenes at Radius (Universität Würzburg) and in our group.
